FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to spam detection methods and particularly to a method of detecting spam in a bitmap image. The text recognition method involves the following steps for: converting the original bitmap image into a gray scale image; selecting at least one object on the gray scale image; selecting the object outline around each of the selected objects; calculating the object signature for each of the selected objects by bypassing points of the selected object outline; comparing the signatures of the selected objects with signatures of known image spam objects; if the signature of one of the selected objects matches the signature of one of the known image spam objects, the spam weight of the original image is increased by a value corresponding to the spam weight of the known image spam object; the image is defined as a spam image if the spam weight of the original image exceeds a given limit.
EFFECT: detecting spam in a bitmap image by determining objects on an image which are typical for spam images.
