FIELD: transport.

SUBSTANCE: elevator assembly comprises elevator well 4 and cabin 2 displacing vertically therein. Well is equipped with sensor system 10, 12, for example, infrared curtain, to detect a man on cabin roof when cabin approaches the well floor. Elevator is designed to limit upward motion at detection of the man on roof. Note here that proposed device allows detecting the man on roof during normal operation. Proposed method exploits above described elevator assembly.
