FIELD: power industry.

SUBSTANCE: active zone of fast U-Pu reactor for operation in self-regulating neutron-nuclear mode with KVA ~ 1 includes fuel zones of high (concentration of 239Pu is more than equilibrium) and low (concentration of 239Pu is less than equilibrium) benefication, as well as control zones of start-up/shutdown of reactor and control zones of its power at operation in self-regulating neutron-nuclear mode, which are located outside fuel zones near vertical axis of active zone. In order to control reactor power, to control zones there irreversibly introduced are compounds of depleted uranium in the form of bars or in the form of granules in the quantity compensating for low positive reactivity appearing at operation of reactor in self-regulating neutron-nuclear mode.

EFFECT: improvement of reactor safety, considerable simplification of the design and cheapening of reactor control system, improvement of its reliability, reduction of the size of active zone and minimum reactor power.
