FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of measuring viscosity and apparatus for realising said method. In the method of measuring viscosity, a rotary viscosimeter is used to set periodically varying rotation frequency of a rotating element at one point of a flow curve and the measured viscosity is determined from change in torque. The apparatus which realises said method has a unit for determining change in the signal from the rotating sensor of the detecting element, and the drive of the rotating element has variable rotating frequency.

EFFECT: more accurate measurement of viscosity and simple process of tuning a viscosimeter.
