FIELD: information technologies.
SUBSTANCE: invention described here provides for a form of macrodiversion of a downlink in cellular communication networks with packet switching. It makes it possible to selectively deliver packets from a network/a combination of networks to a terminal unit, for instance, a wireless communication device or a terminal, by a set of available connections of a channel level to a terminal unit/from a terminal unit, via one or more access units, for instance, basic stations. Macrodiversion of a downlink is especially important, when connections of a channel level between a terminal unit and an appropriate access unit, for instance, an access line, are subject to independent or partially mutually related changes of signal intensity and noise with the course of time. According to the invention, a terminal unit dynamically selects a downlink for use from a set of available access lines on a packet-by-packet basis, in accordance with predominant channel conditions, availability of radio interface resources and other limitations.
EFFECT: higher stability and efficiency of communication, general use of radio interface resources and quality of service provided at a terminal unit.
