SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mobile communication systems. Described is a method of forwarding a mobile IP (MIP), in which additional initial access level identifiers and redirection data packet identifiers are used to provide unambiguous forwarding through an external MIP agent when a mobile node has several home addresses and/or when a home agent or a certain intermediate MIP node between an external agent and a home agent supports several home addresses from overlapping address spaces. New identifiers are used to ensure availability of sufficient forwarding information together with information in the transmitted packets for unique identification of each packet stream.
EFFECT: avoiding ambiguity when forwarding packets.
