METHOD OF ESTIMATING SEVERITY OF CRITICAL STATE POLYNEUROPATHY IN CHILDREN Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC A61B5/05

Abstract RU 2456919 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to pediatrics, neurology, infectious diseases. Method includes estimation of degree of nerve affection expression. Estimation of nerve affection expression is performed by value of amplitude index of nerve function. For this purpose stimulation of ulnar, median, tibial and peroneal nerves is carried out twice with duration 100 mcs and with duration 500 mcs. After that, severity of state is estimated by formula: Af=[A500+(A500-A100)/2]/An*100%, in which Af is amplitude index of nerve function, A500 is amplitude obtained to pulse current 500 mcs, A100 is amplitude obtained to pulse current 100 mcs, An is norm amplitude. If Af values are equal: 0%-25%, expressed degree of affection is stated. If Af values equal 26%-50%, moderate degree of affection is stated. If Af values are higher than 50%, light degree of affection is stated.

EFFECT: method increases accuracy of estimating critical state severity due to determination of structurally intact motor fibres, lower excitability resulting from pathological process of ulnar, median, tibial and peroneal nerves, ensures timely correction of performed therapy and reduces terms of patients' stay in hospital.
