FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: seismic vibrator is meant for generating seismic waves during seismic exploration and has a rigid seismic wave radiator board provided with teeth for better contact with the ground, a tightening weight, a self-contained power supply system and an electromagnetic power drive whose force is transmitted to the radiator. The inductor of the electromagnetic drive is attached to the tightening weight which is held in an initial position and returns to it after actuation of the seismic vibrator by springs. Displacement of the tightening weight and creation of forces applied to the radiator during operation of the seismic vibrator takes place in the horizontal direction, resulting in generation of basically seismic shear waves. The seismic vibrator according to the first version can generate unidirectional action, and according to the second version - a sequence of actions of alternating directions.
EFFECT: broader capabilities of the seismic vibrator and simple procedure of conducting seismic exploration, facilitating application of the force of the electromagnetic drive parallel to the ground surface, possibility of alternating ground deformations with one seismic vibrator in two opposite directions.
