FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method of determining tsunami precursor, involving arranging groups of devices for picking up seismic signals at observation depth horizons in the coastal area and at a distance from it in order to perform step by step determination of the risk of occurrence of a tsunami, connecting said devices to external receiving stations using a communication channel and processing seismic signals, picking up seismic signals, wherein the speed and direction of wind and sea waves, air humidity, atmospheric pressure, baric gradient of electric discharges in the atmosphere and frequency of sound waves in the atmosphere are further recorded, the correlation coefficient the measured values of speed and direction of wind and sea waves, humidity, atmospheric pressure, baric gradient of electric discharges in the atmosphere and frequency of sound waves in the atmosphere is determined, from which the probability of the onset of tsunami waves is estimated.
EFFECT: high reliability of predicting onset of tsunami waves during submarine earthquakes.
