SUBSTANCE: testing tank has a rectangular cup filled with water, a wave generator mounted along one or two sides of the cup, and a wave breaker lying along sides of the cup opposite the wave generator. The wave breaker is made from permeable boards mounted at an angle to the incoming wave stream and has at least one immersed section. At least two perforated plates are mounted to the bottom of the permeable boards of the weave breaker, said plates lying in parallel to each other and spreading on the entire width of the tank and at a depth ΔH, which is determined from the condition: where η is the depth of the tank where the perforated plates are located, L_max is the maximum wavelength of the waves generated by the wave generator. The perforated plates are pivotally mounted to the permeable boards of the immersed sections. In the second version, the perforated plates of the immersed sections of the wave breaker are vertically divided into two parts, the top part of which is pivotally mounted to the permeable boards of the sections and the bottom parts are mounted at the bottom of the cup of the tank. The plane of the bottom parts of the plates mounted at the bottom are displaced from the planes of the top parts mounted to the permeable boards by a value which is not greater than the vertical dimension of perforations of the corresponding perforated plate.

EFFECT: high quality of a model experiment without deterioration of other operating properties of the tank.
