FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method involves investigation of an aircraft model in a wind tunnel and conducting flight tests. The observable parameters used are total values of coefficients of aerodynamic forces and moments which are calculated based on measurement of parameters in flight, and the given functions used, through which a structural or constructional matrix is formed during identification via a least-square method, are functions which are components of coefficients of aerodynamic forces and moments in the model of aerodynamic characteristics obtained based on adjustments in wind tunnels, and a unit function. A least-square method is used to determine scaling factors for given functions; the main range of values flight parameters is determined, in which a selected set of given functions, taking into account scaling factors, provides a satisfactory approximation of the set of discrete values of coefficients of aerodynamic forces and moments acting on the aircraft in real flight conditions obtained during flight tests.

EFFECT: high reliability of determining aerodynamic characteristics of aircraft in flight tests and ensuring technological effectiveness of determination thereof using identification via a least-square method.
