FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: one records the fact of ground fault current flowing through each pole; preliminarily one determines and registers the geographical coordinates of each pole of outgoing overhead transmission lines within a grid with an insulated neutral; the registering device is represented by a satellite radio signal receiver/transmitter that is activated with double ground fault current; one ensured wired transfer of radio signals to the power plant feeding the overhead transmission lines where the signals are read out and processed with the help of a satellite navigation system which results in obtainment of the geographical coordinates of the satellite radio signals receipt location that are compared to the preliminarily recorded geographical coordinates of each pole to identify the ground fault pole; one disconnects the overhead transmission line where ground fault has occurred as well as one of the phases of the low voltage buses (the ground-connected one).
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of ground fault pole identification.
