FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and may be used for producing foundry goods with modified surface layer. Nanostructured coating comprises filler including quartz dust or fused corundum or graphite, binder and water. Filler features the following breakup, in wt %: 1-100 nm - not over 10; 101 nm - 1 mcm - 20-50; 1.5-10 mcm - 20-60; 11-20 mcm - 5-15; over 20 mcm making the rest. Coating binder includes clear starch or commercial lignosulphonate. Additionally, coating comprises bentonite. In compliance with second version, coating binder comprises liquid glass and, additionally, ferrochromium slag.
EFFECT: perfected microstructure of surface layer.
