FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention may be used for water softening, particularly, to heat engineering. Proposed composition comprises layer of strong-acid styrene divinylbenzene cation-exchange resin arranged between two layers of inert materials. Granulated polyethylene, polypropylene or polystyrene is used as inert material arranged upstream of cation-exchange resin layer. Silica-based material is used as inert material arranged downstream of cation-exchange resin layer. Proposed composition includes said material at the following ratio, in wt %:inert material arranged upstream of cation-exchange resin - 4-6, cation-exchange resin - 82-88 inert material arranged downstream of cation-exchange resin - 8-12. Plant comprises filter 4 with bed 6, 7, 8 and central tube 10, salt-dissolution tank 14, pipelines 1, 11, and shutoff-and-control valves 2, 3, 4, 12, 16-18. Said filter is equipped with control valve 3 connected with microprocessor 19 to allow automatic switching of fluid flows in central tube 10. Proposed method comprises forcing water through filter bed made up of composition of filtration materials, loosening said bed, recovering it by counterflow of salt solution, and flushing said bed.
EFFECT: single-stage cleaning with hardness reduction to 0,01 mg-eq/L, reduced salt consumption.
