SUBSTANCE: in methods and apparatus for transmitting asynchronous hybrid automatic repeat request (ARQ) process identitifiers in a wireless communication system, linking scheme is established between at least two sets of process identitifiers of two corresponding codewords. When the first process identifier is selected from a first set of process identifiers of the first codeword, a second process identifier can be derived depending on the first process identifier and the established linking scheme. A first packet from the first codeword is transmitted over a first transmission channel indicated by the first process identifier, and a second packet is transmitted from the second codeword over a second transmission channel indicated by the second process identifier. A control message containing only the first process identifier is also transmitted.

EFFECT: higher accuracy of transmission.
