FIELD: information technologies.
SUBSTANCE: methods are described to send control information along a return channel in a wireless communication system. In one version user equipment (UE) displays information on a channel quality indicator (CQI) in M most senior bits (MSB) of a message and displays information on acknowledgement (ACK) in N least senior bits (LSB) of a message, if ACK information is sent, where M≥1 and N≥1. UE may code a message with the help of a block code, for instance, code M MSB with the help of the first M sequences of bases in the block code and code N LSB with the help of the following N sequences of bases in the block code. ACK information may include N bits of ACK information. UE may put each bit of ACK information into the first value for ACK information or into the second value for NACK information. The second value may also be used for discontinuous transmission (DTX) of ACK information.
EFFECT: higher reliability of data transfer.
