FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in mining industry to treat high-mineralised acidic drainage effluents. The method involves step-by-step reduction of copper on aluminium metal with separation of the formed copper precipitate and neutralisation of the obtained solution with an alkali and separation of metal hydroxides. Copper is reduced at pH 3.5-3.9, and the obtained solution is neutralised with aqueous ammonia solution at pH 7.0-7.5. The invention enables purification of drainage water from contaminants of different hazard classes to values closer to the maximum allowable concentration for water bodies for domestic-drinking and cultural-general water use, and obtaining copper metal of purity higher than 99%.
EFFECT: method is easy to implement and does not require special equipment.
