SUBSTANCE: sharing a document editing application provides a document editing environment wherein two or more users can edit a document simultaneously. Each user edits a copy of the document, transfers updates to the main copy of the document and receives updates from the main copy of the document. The document editing environment can be configured in open operating mode, wherein content and metadata are synchronised automatically, or in private operating mode, wherein metadata are synchronised automatically and content is synchronised only at the request of the user. The document editing application can edit documents in automatic operating mode, in open or private mode.

EFFECT: broader functionalities of editing documents by enabling real-time document editing by multiple users.
