FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: method includes positioning of drill relative to grinding wheel of straight section with further movement of drill and conformal rotation during grinding operation. Drill is positioned so that cutting edge is placed at right angle to axis of grinding wheel rotation tangentially to its working surface, and the plane passing through cutting edge and parallel to drill axis is at an angle to axis of grinding wheel rotation determined by provided calculating formula and depending on drill geometrics. Then drill is turned around its cutting edge and is moved along it and working surface of grinding wheel. Grinding operation is performed in direction from drill periphery to its centre.
EFFECT: smoothing drill wearing due to control of allocation of back angles along drill cutting edge.
