FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: transparent layer has at least a first area and a second area with a variable refraction index lying next to each other in a plane formed by the transparent layer and at least partially in a window or in the transparent region of the carrier substrate. Each of the areas has a plurality of units arranged intermittently, which form an optical effect element and are formed by varying the refraction index, said units primarily lying in planes parallel to each other. The planes on at least the first area are not parallel to planes on at least the second area. On at least one of the areas, the planes pass not parallel and not perpendicular to the plane of the layer. That way, light incident on both the front and back side of the multilayer body is refracted by optical effect elements which form an optical effect in the reflected light which is different when viewed from the front and from the back.
EFFECT: design of a protective element with good protective properties and a two-way optical effect.
