FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: gas counter has several measurement chambers and a distribution valve (2) which can rotate about a fixed axis of rotation on the top surface of the distribution cap (1), representing several openings (10-12), each linked to one measurement chamber. That distribution valve (2) enables alternate inlet of gas into the measurement chambers and outlet of gas from these chambers when the distribution valve rotates about the axis of rotation, and the distribution cap (1) has at least two seal crowns (15a, 15b), lying essentially concentrically about the fixed axis of rotation, on the top flat edge of which contact surfaces (25, 26) of the distribution valve slide. The top flat edge (15d) of at least one of the seal crowns is not circular and is such that any point on the contact surface lying opposite that flat top edge (15d), having a shape which is not circular, is without mechanical contact with that edge at least once in a revolution. The advantage is assisting removal of contaminants.

EFFECT: high accuracy of counting gas volume, as well as removal of any contaminant.
