FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: turbine brake comprises rotor with at least one disc with rim. Said rotor drives the shaft and can revolve relative to stator in the case of shaft collapse. Besides, said rotor comprises first and second braking elements. Said first braking element is rigidly engaged with rim and incorporates, at least, one cutting element. Said second braking element is rigidly engaged with stator downstream of said rim to comprise ring-shape element. Said ring is made from material that can be cut by aforesaid cutting element. Both braking elements get in contact due to rotor axial displacement caused by shaft collapse to allow cutting element to cut said ring-shape element of second braking element.
EFFECT: turbine braking in collapse of its shaft.
