SUBSTANCE: method of manufacturing paper coating and the paper coating, comprising inorganic material, with use as a thickener of the said coating of water-soluble polymer, which comprises at least one anionic monomer with ethylenic unsaturation and at least one oxyalkylated monomer with ethylenic unsaturation, finished saturated or unsaturated branched hydrophobic alkyl, alkylaryl, arylalkyl or aryl chain comprising 14 to 21 carbon atoms and having two branches comprising at least 6 carbon atoms. The said polymer is added to the solution, directly or with the use of the preliminary stage of grinding, dispersing, or concentration of inorganic material in water, possibly after the drying stage.
EFFECT: invention enables to improve the retention of water in the said solution, which helps to improve the printability of paper with the said coating.
