FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the production of pigments. A method of obtaining self-binding pigment particles includes, at least, one stage of crushing one or several binding agents and one or several mineral substances in a water medium to obtain a suspension. Before and/or during the stage of crushing the copolymer in the form of an aqueous solution is added. The said copolymer is obtained due to polymerisation of, at least, one monomer, selected from acrylic acid, metacrylic acid and their mixture and, at least, one oxyalkylated monomer, in which the oxyalkyl group contains a terminal hydrophobic alkyl, aryl, alkylaryl or an arylalkyl group, which has from 10 to 32 carbon atoms. At least one more monomer, which is acrylic acid ether and/or unsaturated amide, can be used for polymerisation.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase the content of solid particles in the suspension of the self-binding pigment particles and reduce the total content of organic substances in a water phase of the suspension.
