FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: plate-type drive chain includes plate-type links hinged in alternating series order between each other with rolling in kinematic pairs formed with adjacent links. Engagement element of the chain is working section of side surface of only one of two main power structural elements of the link, which are located across the width of the link structure facing the outer side of that link and (or) only one of every two power elements joined to a pair (chain hinge) with adjacent links. When the chain link turns relative to sprocket there can be no friction of engagement element of that chain link for sprocket. Besides, internal or (and) external rolling bodies are connected in the link structure with link plates only by means of friction forces (conjugated by means of friction bond) with possibility of rotational movability relative to plates of that link in link turning plane (in chain bending plane).
EFFECT: friction torque in chain hinge can be almost equal to movement friction torque.
