FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: aqueous polymer dispersion is obtained by emulsion copolymerisation of vinyl ester monomers in the presence of a polyvinyl alcohol using comonomers containing (meth)acrylamide derivatives. The vinyl ester monomers include ester(s) of versatic acid and vinyl acetate. The method of producing the aqueous polymer dispersion by emulsion copolymerisation of monomers involves initiation, monomer delay and conversion completion steps. An adhesive composition containing the aqueous polymer dispersion additionally contains one or more coalescing agents and/or an acid catalyst and/or a polyvinyl alcohol and/or a viscosity modifier and/or urea. The aqueous polymer dispersion is used in wood processing adhesives or as glue for wood, paper and packaging, for parquetry, in binder for coatings, for wooden fibreboards, for material made from leather, glass and mineral fibre, in binder for insulating materials, cement and gypsum, and in binder for the textile industry or textile articles.
EFFECT: use of the aqueous polymer dispersion in an adhesive improves water- and heat-resistance of the adhesive, while providing high capacity or suitability for processing after several months.
