SUBSTANCE: method for semantic search of electronic documents involves supplementing the index structure of an electronic document with markers which occupy the same and fixed size in computer memory, which store, depending on their type, both the metadata of the electronic documents and information on inclusions of natural language words in the electronic documents, obtained via linguistic analysis. The disclosed system for semantic search of electronic documents includes the corresponding modules: a module for forming a collection and extracting metadata of electronic documents, a module for storing index structures of electronic documents, a module for forming and providing the user of the search system with a list of electronic documents ranked according to relevancy, a module for forming markers which store metadata of electronic documents, a module for linguistic analysis of text in the natural language and forming markers which store information on inclusions of natural language words.
EFFECT: more complete and accurate search of electronic documents.
