FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: set of invention relates to arc welding by consumable wire. Proposed method comprises feeding wire at the rate adjusted in compliance with measured electrical parameters in arc space. During sharp voltage drop in said arc space, it is bridged for short interval by controlled power switch located in area closer to welding head while at abrupt voltage rise in said space, wide feed rate is decreased in discrete steps to bridge said gap by said switch. After breaking said switch, wire feed rate is resumed. Proposed plant comprises welding head, power supply, control system with gap space electric parameters transducers and wire feeder. Controlled power switch is arranged parallel with arc space and connected to control system whereto connected is wider feeder that allows varying feed rate in discrete steps and resuming it in response to signals of electric parameter abrupt variation in dap space.
EFFECT: higher welding quality, high welding speed.
