FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method is intended for detection and analysis of faults in the first cable or at least any other cable transmitting electric energy in three-phase feeder systems. The magnitude of current in the first cable is compared to the threshold level. If the current magnitude exceeds the threshold level, the duration of such condition is measured. If such duration falls within the bounds of the preset time range, after a certain preset time interval one performs one determines whether a fault has been detected in the specified at least one other cable. In case of no fault detected in at least one other cable, it is decided that a single-time fault has taken place within the feeder system.
EFFECT: increased protection reliability and false activation exclusion.
