FIELD: weapons and ammunition.
SUBSTANCE: fragmentation shell comprises an explosive, a detonating fuse and a fragment-forming jacket. In the first version of realisation of the shell the jacket is made of two layers with longitudinal and circular notches or of two layers of ready damaging elements. Notches or elements of different layers are shifted relative to each other by a half-pitch. In the second version of realisation of the shell the jacket is made of three layers with longitudinal and circular notches or of three layers of ready damaging elements. Notches or elements of first two layers are shifted relative to each other by a half-pitch. The outer surface of fragments or elements of the second layer in cross section has a form of a rectilinear or a curvilinear double-pitch roof. The number of fragments or elements of the third layer is twice more than in the second layer, and they are symmetrically arranged by two on the outer surface of fragments or elements of the third layer. In the third version of realisation the shell has a spherical shape and contains several layers of fragment-forming jackets or layers of damaging elements. Layers of the more outer layer close gaps between fragments or elements of the previous layer.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of a shell.
