SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to agricultural industry and can be used for machine potato harvesting. The method of potato harvesting includes digging the tuberiferous layer, separation of impurities, collection of harvested tubers, their transportation from the field and postharvest treatment. The potatoes are fed to the storage hopper of high capacity of the combine harvester by dispersed flow of tubers collecting potatoes evenly throughout in the hopper. After its filling the potato tubers are transported from the field in the combine. After installing the combine to the area of postharvest treatment and opening the unloading window of the hopper, the dosed feeding of potatoes is carried out by dispersed flow of tubers from the combine to the area of postharvest treatment for final purification, sorting and packing. The device for implementation of the method - the potato harvester - comprising digging unit, separating elevators, separating barrier, lifting elevator, and a storage hopper of high capacity. The combine comprises a machine for feeding potatoes by dispersed flow of tubers into the hopper. The storage hopper comprises a horizontal mobile V-shaped tuber-deflector with the ability of controlled movement in the horizontal plane. Under the edges of the V-shaped tuber-deflector two cascades of flexible trays are fixed.

EFFECT: reduction of intensity of the degradation processes of the soil cover of the field and increased quality of the final product is provided.
