FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing pure chalcopyrite (CuFeS2) from metal-containing solutions using acid-tolerant sulphate-reducing bacteria (ASRB). The method of producing chalcopyrite by placing acid-tolerant sulphate-reducing bacteria which are highly resistant to copper ions into a synthetic medium which contains metals, with addition of nutrients, including solutions of vitamins, salts, cofactors, lactate, sodium sulphide, with further culturing at temperature of 28°C. When culturing sulphate-reducing bacteria, iron metal is added to the container. Culturing is carried out in an acidic medium at temperature of 28°C. The precipitate collected from the bottom of the vial, which contains chalcopyrite, is centrifuged and dried.
EFFECT: method of producing chalcopyrite using acid-tolerant sulphate-reducing bacteria which are resistant to copper.
