FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to treatment of natural and waste water from hydrogen sulphide, hydrosulphide and sulphide ions and can be used in pulp and paper, chemical and other industries. The water treatment method involves obtaining an aqueous suspension of iron hydroxide particles via chemical deposition thereof. The suspension is used to treat water by mixing a portion of iron hydroxide to form insoluble iron sulphides, oxidation in the suspension with atmospheric oxygen and separating solid treatment products from the treated water. Chemical deposition of iron hydroxide particles is carried out in the presence of cellulose fibres dispersed in water to obtain a suspension of composite material from fibres on which iron hydroxide particles are immobilised. Oxidation of sulphides is carried out at high air pressure and solid water treatment products are separated using pressure floatation to obtain said products in form of floatation sludge.
EFFECT: enabling continuous treatment with high volume flow rate of water.
