FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nonferrous metallurgy. Proposed method comprises leaching alumina-bearing stock to obtain aluminate solution to be separated from red mud and directed to crystallisation for production of mother solution and precipitate containing aluminium hydroxide to be fed for calcination to making alumina. Crystallisation is carried out by adding crystalline aluminium nitrate to aluminate solution in amount of 3.6-9.9 wt % of aluminium oxide in aluminate solution.
EFFECT: accelerated and efficient processing.
