FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy, more particularly production of alumina and gallium. SUBSTANCE: method comprises leaching bauxite with circulating alkali-aluminate solution, thickening red slurry, decomposing aluminate solution in the presence if priming aluminum hydroxide to prepare hydroxide and mother liquor, evaporating mother liquor to prepare circulating alkali-aluminate solution. Some circulating alkali-aluminate solution is evaporated to prepare sodium aluminate and mother liquor after separation of sodium aluminate, additional sodium aluminate-base primer is introduced to be decomposed, and gallium is extracted from mother liquor in the form of gallium-containing sediment. Invention makes it possible to reduce heat-energy consumption due to increasing degree of decomposition of aluminate solutions in decomposition step and additionally extracting gallium.
