FIELD: radio engineering, communication.

SUBSTANCE: in a short-wave (SW) radio line, fitted with turnstile receiving and transmitting antennae, which are configured to measure their polarisation, the ionosphere is probed with signals; signals reflected from the ionosphere are received; parameters are measured and polarisation of the receiving and transmitting antennae is selected based on the measurement results. In the first version, the ionosphere is probed with signals at a fixed frequency at the point of reflection of signals of the working radio line. In the second version, the ionosphere is probed with signals at a variable frequency.

EFFECT: low level of signal polarisation fading at the receiving point through polarisation adaptation of the receiving antenna, which takes into account both polarisation of the transmitting antenna and the polarisation structure of the signal at the receiving point, which is defined by magnetoionic components of the electromagnetic wave reflected from the ionosphere.
