FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy. Proposed method comprises grinding, applying wear-proof coating onto cylinder and roller body working surface by spark processing, and finishing the coating. Thickness of built-up layer in intensive-wear areas and body center is selected to make building-up traces exist in subsequent roll change uniformly in said areas or solely in intensive-wear zones while, in regrinding, minimum layer thickness equals 0.01-0.02 mm. Coating is applied by multiple spark processing of body edges and center at different spark processing conditions. Note here that spark discharge currents in building up body edges exceed those in building up body center.
EFFECT: optimum coating thickness.
