SUBSTANCE: invention relates to compositions of crude mixtures for making expanded clay which can be used as light and high-strength concrete aggregate. The crude mixture for making expanded clay contains, wt %: montmorillonite clay 73.5-79.5, spent grains from wine and cognac production 0.5-1.0, glycerol 0.5-1.0, clay wastes from beneficiation of zircon-ilmenite ore 19.0-25.0.
EFFECT: high strength of expanded clay made from the crude mixture.
