SUBSTANCE: audio encoder comprises a first spectral domain encoding branch, a second LPC-domain encoding branch; a switch for switching between the first encoding branch and the second encoding branch, wherein the second encoding branch has a converter for converting data into a specific domain different from the time domain, thus at an LPC analysis stage, an excitation signal is generated; the second encoding branch has a LPC domain processing branch, and a spectral domain processing branch; and an additional switch for switching between the LPC domain coding branch and the specific spectral domain coding branch. An audio decoder has a first domain - a spectral domain decoding branch, a second domain - an LPC domain decoding branch and a third domain - an LPC-spectral decoder branch; the third domain appears as a result of frequency conversion from the second domain.

EFFECT: providing variability at the preprocessing step, improved quality and low bitrate of the output signal.
