SUBSTANCE: device (1) for transmission of preferably tape weft material (6) from the supply unit to the plotter (4) of the weaver loom comprises a clamping device (5) for clamping the free end (E) of the weft material (6). The clamping device (5) moves substantially in the direction (BR) of movement of the plotter (4) between at least two different working positions. The device (1) comprises an actuator (8) for moving the clamping device (5). In the method of transmission of preferably tape weft material (6) from the supply unit to the plotter (4) of the weaver loom the free end (E) of the weft material (6) is clamped in the clamping device (5) and transmitted to the plotter (4), and then the clamping device (5) opens and the weft material (6) is laid. The clamping device (5) is moved by the actuator (8) substantially in the direction of movement of the plotter (4) between at least two different working positions.
