FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus for detecting and identifying substances by nuclear quadrupole resonance has series-connected high-frequency generator, pulse modulator, first inductance coil, signal sensor, low-noise amplifier, logarithmic amplifier with an amplitude detector and a display, wherein the control input of the pulse modulator is combined with the gating input of the low-noise amplifier and is connected to the output of a modulating pulse generator. The apparatus includes a signal divider, a first and a second controlled attenuator, a first and a second controlled phase changer, a second inductance coil and an oscilloscope, and the signal sensor is in form of a subtracting transformer. The signal divider, the first controlled attenuator and the first controlled phase changer are series-connected between the input of the modulator and the input of the first inductance coil; the second controlled attenuator, the second controlled phase changer and the second inductance coil are connected in series. The input of the second controlled attenuator is connected to the second output of the signal divider, the output of the modulating pulse generator is connected to the control inputs of the display and the oscilloscope, and the signal sensor is inductively coupled to the first and second inductance coils.

EFFECT: high sensitivity of the device.
