Disclosed is a composition for protecting wood from blueing, which contains a haloalkynyl compound, an azole and an unsaturated carboxylic acid or sulphonic acid or an alkali metal salt thereof or an alkali-earth metal salt thereof. Disclosed also is a method of protecting a substrate made from wood or other cellulose material.
