FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method involves pellets or briquettes obtained from ore-flux-coal charge, their heat treatment that comprises operations of drying and high-temperature roasting in an annular furnace with a rotating bottom in reducing atmosphere. Ore-flux-coal pellets or briquettes dried and heated to 600-800°C are loaded to a reaction heat- insulated electro-tight chamber of the annular chamber of carousel type, the bottom of which is separated with partition walls into sectors. In the reaction chamber in each sector there arranged are waveguides - energy emitters of microwave frequency, by means of which temperature of raw coal is increased step by step from 950°C to 1300°C. Metal coated product is supplied to a below located cooler with an annular rotating bottom with two cooling zones, in the first of which there provided is filtration speed of atmospheric air through a raw material layer, which is equal to 1.1·104 to 1.6·104 m3/m2 hour, and in the other one to 0.9·104 to 1.1·104 m3/m2 hour.
EFFECT: method allows obtaining quality product at considerable reduction of costs of utilities owing to utilising the created heat.
