FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: air stream is ionised using dielectric barrier discharge and the air stream is exposed to an electric field. The dielectric barrier discharge is excited in the zone of the beginning of the laminar-turbulent transition, where maximum relative mean-square velocity pulsations are equal to 0.5-2.5%. Discharge-induced flow is directed downstream by a gradient electric field. The dielectric barrier discharge is excited in multiple zones of the boundary layer alternating downstream, the first of which coincides with the region of the beginning of natural laminar-turbulent transition, and the rest lie at distance from each other, which provides successive shift of the transition downstream.
EFFECT: low aerodynamic resistance by pulling laminar-turbulent transition on the streamlined surface.
