FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a functionalised cis-1,4-polydiene polymer. The method comprises the following steps: (i) obtaining a polymer in which content of cis-1,4-links is higher than 60%, and having a reactive terminal group, by polymerising a conjugated diene monomer and an optional monomer, copolymerisable with said diene monomer, using a lanthanide-based catalyst system; and (ii) reacting the reactive terminal group of the polymer with a heterocyclic nitrile compound. The heterocyclic nitrile compound is described by the formula θ-C≡N or θ-R-C≡N, where θ contains one or more cyano groups and is a heterocyclic group, and R is a hydrocarbylene group or a substituted hydrocarbylene group. The substituted hydrocarbylene group includes a hydrocarbylene in which one or more hydrogen atoms are substituted with substitutes such as an alkyl group. The hydrocarbylene groups or substituted hydrocarbylene groups can contain one or more heteroatoms.

EFFECT: obtaining functionalised polymers that are characterised by low hysteresis and low cold flow.
