FIELD: textiles, paper.

SUBSTANCE: equipment (1) for cleaning carpet (M) comprises mounted on a common frame (10) conveyor (3) for transporting a carpet (M) between the devices (4, 2) in the equipment, the control unit (5) for controlling the operation of equipment, at least one washing unit (4) and at least one drying unit (2) mounted in the direction (K) of conveying behind the washing unit. The conveyor (3) used in the equipment (1) is capable of transporting a carpet (M) through the units (4, 2) at the same speed. The equipment (1) is intended for cleaning carpets (M), which backside is made of substantially airtight material. At least one washing unit (4) comprises an assembly of dry or wet cleaning, provided with at least one brush and means for moving the carpet (M). Each drying unit (2) has a blower unit (20) for blowing of the carpet with the compressed air with the pressure of 200-1500 kPa, preferably 500-1000 kPa at the front side of the carpet, and the pressure used is selected depending on the type of carpet. The method of carpet cleaning is based on the work of the said equipment for cleaning carpets.
