FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: pair of signals with close amplitude with average frequency corresponding to certain frequency of bandpass of an optic detector is generated at the specified value of parameter of a physical field and with difference frequency that is rather narrow so that both signals can enter the above bandpass. Generated pair of signals is transmitted to the optic detector through an optic splitter via the first optic medium. Pairs of signals that are passed through the optic detector and generated and transmitted via the second and the third optic media are received. Determination of physical field parameter is performed owing to measuring modulation coefficient of a beat envelope of signals of the pair, which passed through the optic detector, and by determining the sign of phase difference between the beat envelope of signals of the generated pair and beat envelope of signals of the pair that passed through the optic detector.

EFFECT: higher measurement accuracy owing to excluding sources of measurement errors.
