FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sorption treatment of water. Disclosed is a method of producing a composite sorbent based on magnesium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide. A dispersion of fibrillated cellulose fibres containing at least 94% fibres with length of not more than 1.23 mm and at least 54% fibres with length of not more than 0.63 mm is prepared. A suspension is then prepared from a solution of magnesium-containing salts and the prepared dispersion of cellulose fibres. The suspension is treated with a solution containing a mixture of NaOH and Na2CO3 to obtain a suspension composite sorbent particles. The sorbent consists of cellulose fibres on which fine particles of magnesium hydroxide and magnesium carbonate are immobilised. The sorbent particles are separated from the aqueous phase by pressure flotation.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain an efficient sorbent for purifying waste water from metal ions.
