FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio chemistry and can be used in producing a radium-224 reparation and a pure thorium-228 preparation used in nuclear medicine. The method involves dissolving starting material containing thorium-228 and radium-224 in HCl to obtain a first solution containing ThCl4, RaCl2 and free HCl, and a second solution containing RaCl2 and NaCl. The first solution is treated with sodium hydroxide to form Th(OH)4 particles. The second solution is treated with sodium carbonate to form RaCO3 particles and an end solution containing NaCl. The solutions are treated in the presence of fibrillated cellulose fibres in each solution. The preparations are extracted from the solutions, wherein the thorium-228 preparation is extracted from the second solution before treatment thereof.
EFFECT: obtaining sorption products in form of dispersions consisting of second and end solutions and composite preparations consisting of cellulose fibres with Th(OH)4 and RaCO3 particles strongly immobilised thereon.
