FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of extracting methane from gas mixtures by bringing the mixture into contact with an aqueous solution of a cyclic ether with concentration of not more than 20 mol % at temperature not higher than 20°C and pressure of up to 3.0 MPa to obtain a condensed phase containing mixed hydrates of methane and the cyclic ether and a gas phase, separating the gas phase, extracting methane from the condensed phase and recycling the aqueous solution of the cyclic ether for extraction.
EFFECT: method enables to efficiently extract methane from gas mixtures by simplifying the process, particularly lowering the separation pressure.
